ABOUT THE PODCAST

DTM Pod is made for fans of the DTM - one of the most popular and thrilling motorsport championships on the planet.

Each episode features exclusive in-depth interviews with some of the DTM's biggest names; from star drivers - past and present - to team managers, race engineers and other interesting figures connected to the series. We'll also speak to drivers who race in the various support championships - many of whom have ambitions to join the DTM grid one day.

We want to get to know them better, as they share their stories and unique insights from their lives on track, around the paddock and away from the racing scene.  Listeners are actively encouraged to get involved with their thoughts and questions and of course, we'll have some fun with it as well!

What's more, the podcast will include features, stories, analysis and talking points - covering all things DTM.

Presenters

The podcast is presented by Chris Hartley and Brian Oliver, who provide the DTM's English language commentary for worldwide television.

Having separately worked as broadcasters for the championship and its various support categories for many years, they first worked on air together in 2023 and quickly became good friends. They now follow the championship across Europe - frequently cursing delayed flights, the price of airport coffee and the length of post-Brexit queues at passport control.

Chris Hartley has - despite his boyish looks (!) - been a motorsport commentator for more than 30 years. He started out as a karting commentator, while he was still racing himself, before making his circuit commentary debut at Silverstone in 2000.

His involvement with the DTM began in 2010, when he became the pitlane reporter for the championship's annual visits to Brands Hatch. â€‹In 2014, he became a regular co-commentator on the world-feed TV coverage of the DTM, alongside the legendary voice of the championship; Dave Richardson. When Dave decided to step back at the end of 2019, he invited Chris to take over as the lead television commentator - a role he's loved doing ever since.

In the UK, Chris has been the lead circuit commentator for the British Touring Car Championship since 2016 and also covers the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Mini Challenge, British F4 and Porsche Sprint Challenge. He's been part of Silverstone's trackside commentary team for the Formula 1 British Grand Prix since 2011 and, more recently, became the English-language track commentator at the Macau Grand Prix.

Prior to going behind the mic - and back when he had hair - Chris raced 100cc karts at British Championship level for a decade. Away from motorsport, he's a massive fan of cricket, golf and football - enduring much disappointment, anguish and - occassionally - unadulterated joy, whilst supporting his beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Brian Oliver has worked in motorsport since he was a teenager. He spent eight years with Penske Racing, during the era of the top-secret pushrod engine - nicknamed The Beast - which dominated the 1994 Indy 500. Brian attributes the team's success that year to his truly exceptional tea-making skills.

He went on to serve as Chief Steward and then a Race Director, working in National Hot Rod Racing for over a decade, while his broadcasting voice was also coming to the fore; presenting an electronic dance music show on local radio and running a small recording studio.

That blend of motorsport insight and media experience collided in 2018 (thankfully without injury), when he made his commentatry debut with guest roles in DTM and Ferrari Challenge Europe. The following year, he became the lead international TV commentator for the ADAC and has since covered championships such as GT4, Formula 4, Prototype Cup and GT Masters. He's also the voice you'll hear on the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, Porsche Benelux and Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe.

Brian's favourite meal of the day? Cake. (Preferably with tea...obviously).
